Favor to Win

"For our fathers did not possess the land [of Canaan] by their own sword, Nor did their own arm save them, But Your right hand and Your arm and the light of Your presence, Because You favored and delighted in them.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭44‬:‭3‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Usually when a country is about to fight during a war, one of the first tasks is to gather a group of individuals that will make up the “war room”. In the war room, strategies are developed then the military troops on the ground execute these strategies. If there is a defined strategy but the military troops have no weapons then it is safe to say we know how the battle will end. Countries invest billions in their defense to ensure that their troops are armed with military tools to attack their enemies. In the realm of men, the most powerful country is the one with the largest investment whether in weapons or military troops.

When we read the Old Testament, nations with lots of chariots, charioteers, men, and swords were powerful nations. Israel was not a giant compared to other nations like the Amorites, Hittites, Jebusites, and Hivites. In Deuteronomy 7:2, we see that these nations were greater and mightier than the Israelites and God did not choose the Israelites because they were greater in number than the other people but because of His love and covenant with Abraham.

Meditating on this scripture allows you to understand that the Israelites did not conquer territories because they had what it took but because God was with them. His love for them released favor on them that allowed His right arm and hand (which signifies power) to show up on the battlefield. The intervention by God destroyed all their enemies. They did not need weapons or numbers because God was with them. The Israelites needed to rely on God by trusting in His love for them.

Do you know that when you are faced with a challenge or a battle, you do not need to panic because your opposition seems to have it all? Having God on your side means you have won the battle. The most important weapon is faith in God. As long as you have faith in God and you understand that He loves you then His favour is certain. The end of that battle is victory for you. Having this consciousness makes us walk boldly amid adversaries because we are more than conquerors through Christ who loved us (Romans 8:37)

Practice points

1. Every morning before starting your day meditate on this scripture.

2. Write down areas in your life that you seem to be limited because of a lack of skills, resources, and relationships and ask God for favor in those areas.

Thank you Jesus that favor covers for my limitations. Thank you Jesus for favor that allows me to conquer in battles.  Thank you Jesus that I start from a place of victory because you are on the battlefield with me.
