God gives Favor

“And I will cause the Egyptians to look favorably on you. They will give you gifts when you go so you will not leave empty-handed. Every Israelite woman will ask for articles of silver and gold and fine clothing from her Egyptian neighbors and from the foreign women in their houses. You will dress your sons and daughters with these, stripping the Egyptians of their wealth.”

‭‭Exodus‬ ‭3‬:‭21‬-‭22‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Let not mercy and truth forsake you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart, And so find favor and high esteem in the sight of God and man.”

Proverbs 3:3-4 NKJV

As Christians when we think about getting the things we want or need for ourselves or our family, we sometimes automatically think about money. We allow ourselves to believe that things can only come to us when we have paid for them with money.  It is interesting that in this scripture, the Israelite women were able to have silver, gold, and fine clothing without paying for it. These women who were slaves in Egypt could now suddenly make demands and their demands were heard.

While studying this, I played this out and asked myself "What changed?".  Can you think of why they could make demands and be successful? Was it because the Egyptian women were suddenly so nice? Or because there is a particular day declared for niceness in Egypt? The reason why they could make demands is because God caused favor to be upon them. He made the provision for favor first, which allowed the Israelite women to receive these gifts.

When favor is upon you, the things that others pay for with money are given to you for free. Favor is part of the inheritance we have as children of God. When God causes us to have favor, the aroma of favor surrounds us allowing men and women to give gifts to you.

The question I asked myself while studying this scripture was “How can I receive this favor?” One of the ways to receive this favor is to ensure mercy, kindness, and truth can be found in you. This way of life allows for you to find favor in the sight of God and man.

Practice points

1. Write down the things you are trusting God for and begin to renew your mind knowing these things can come your way through favour.

2. Ask the HolySpirit to help you live a life that constantly holds the truth of God’s Word

Prayer point

Thank you Jesus for the favour that I have found in your sight today.
