Our salvation is in Jesus. There is no addition to that statement and God certainly does not need man’s help to determine how salvation occurs. No matter how much community work we do, charity donations, help rendered to the poor and church attendance every Sunday, salvation is only through one way. That way is Jesus.
When I read this scripture, it reminded me that the one who gives eternal life is Jesus. Charity work and church attendance do not have eternal life, so these activities cannot save anyone. Knowing this propels you to pray for those who have not yet received this eternal life. Man’s opinion on salvation is irrelevant. It is only the truth of God’s word that will set us free. As Christians, we know this truth, so it is important that we share this truth with everyone we come across. No one can save themselves. Jesus is the only way to eternal life. Only the name of Jesus when declared gives new life.
Practice point
Pray first before you speak to anyone about salvation. Ask the Holy Spirit for illumination in the heart of the individual once the Word of God is released.
Prayer Point
Father, thank you for giving your only Son so that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. Thank you for making salvation available. As I go about spreading the truth, I pray that your presence goes with me and every heart surrenders to the knowledge of Christ.
